Wolbachia-mediated resistance to dengue virus infection and death at the cellular level. | World Mosquito Program Skip to main content
The paper details the development of a mosquito cell line-based model to dissect the functional and cellular mechanisms of Wolbachia-mediated viral inhibition. We show that cell lines infected with Wolbachia display limited dengue virus replication and protection from virus-induced mortality. The extent of viral inhibition is strongly correlated with Wolbachia density per cell‚ suggesting competition for cellular resources may underlie this phenotype.
